Like many others, Mitch and I are kindof obsessed with Diners, Drive-ins and Dives so when Mitch first saw the Taco Bus on the show, he put it on his “list of things to do next time we go to Tampa.” When I looked at the menu, I was am immediate buy-in because I am always happy to find places that offer all kinds of protein choices. This place offers all the usual taco place choices, and you can add shrimp, beef, chicken, tofu, tempeh, vegan steak strips or just opt for plain veggies as in the butternut squash taco. So after Kyle and Nicole picked us up from the airport we headed straight to one of the four Taco Bus locations. First weird thing, they cook in the bus, but you eat inside a small restaurant, not at all like the food trucks I pictured it to be. Mitch, Kyle and I all ordered different things, while Nicole passed on eating there at all. It was a treat for me to have choices, so I ordered one taco with tempeh and one with “vegan steak strips.” They were both decent. I give the place a 10 for bringing ALL types of protein eaters together, a 10 for creativity and even a 10 for service. As for the food…it was fair. I look forward to catching a rerun of the show to see what Guy had to say about it. Mitch and I can now cross the Taco Bus off our bucket lists.
From food to fitness…did you know that increasing your “incidental” activity or the calories you burn when NOT working out can always pays off! In a study done at the University of Missouri active NON exercisers burned more calories than people who ran 35 miles a week but were otherwise sedentary. Another recent study showed that standing instead of sitting can burn an extra 750 calories a day without triggering an appetite increase. Wow. I think it’s time for us to all take a break from sitting and get up off our butts!
