Yesterday we talked about exercising those aching knees. Today, let’s talk about what (and whatnot) to feed them. The following five foods could be the best medicine for all our aching joints: berries, ginger, avocado, flax-seeds and soy. For those that eat fish, the omega 3-rich ones are also great for the joints. Research shows that all these foods help bring down joint-damaging inflammation. Sipping green tea through the day is also a great idea as tea it is filled with anti-inflammatory compounds. Conversely, of course, avoiding the pro-inflammatory foods will also help. They include sugary and starchy foods as well as red meat, which can all do more damage to your joints (and most every other part of the body).
So, start healing those knees today by adding berries to your oatmeal or fruit salad, avocado to your salad and flax-seeds to your trail mix. Take a walk, lift some weights and don’t forget to get your daily dose of vitamin D (aka sunshine) which helps our bones absorb calcium. With daily exercise and good nutrition, you can transform from the wicked old step-sister into your very own version of Cinderella (or the tin man, once well oiled!)
Keep breathing love and gratitude and make it a wonderful weekend.
