Through the magic of TV, we were quickly brought from the elimination room to the shores of Hawaii, as last night’s episode of Biggest Loser opened. The excuse of the week was “I can’t lose weight on vacation.” The contestants had the rest of their first day to get comfortable, but not too comfortable! The next morning it was workout time and the contestants all got a pep talk, a lesson in surfing and a lesson in NO EXCUSES from pro surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost her left arm to a shark when she was just 13. We see several of the contestants able to get up and ride the waves and it made me want to try surfing, something I have never done, even when I hung out with a lot of surfers. That was in my pre-fitness years! Now it looks like great exercise and a great “high.” Even Bob was out there and riding, but where oh where was Dolvett? We find him on shore with Kimmie, both petrified of the water, the sharks, etc., but of course, NO EXCUSES! We see them paddle out and then we see Kimmy riding a wave all the way to beach! Made me want to surf, again! Never did see Dolvett hang ten….
At lunch there is some conversation about Kim being the outcast. At this point, she is that, she is abig threat and she looks pretty damn good in a bikini, too! And then it’s time for a pop challenge. It was a trivia challenge and the winner would get a 1 pound advantage at the weigh in. I don’t do very well on these, but Kim did when she broke the tie by guessing that 24 chocolate covered macadamia nuts have a whopping 1320 calories. OUCH! I was happy Kim won. She then got some alone time with Dolvett, discussing her feelings of being a target, etc. She knows (and repeats regularly) that if she falls below the yellow line, she is definitely out. Hey, everyone is a target, now…Back to their workout, I loved the fitness creativity on the beach, out of the gym!
A new day, and time for a challenge. The winner will get immunity at this week’s weigh in. Alison (who by the way looks so beautiful in her island clothes, no?) tells the contestants there are tons of leis and the contestants must find the ones that look just like the one she is wearing and run to get them and place them, one at a time, on the tiki’s. Each contestant has their name on a tiki. There is also single Death Lei, which when placed on someone’s tiki, automatically puts them out of the contest. It gets down to Mark, Conda and Jeremy, and brother Jeremy comes through again, allowing Conda to win immunity. I want Jeremy to win because he is a wonderful brother, but really, I want Mark to win because he will share his money with my boy Chism, and….Mark looks freakin’ EXCELLENT!
At the weigh in, it is Megan and her mom, Kimmie that fall below the yellow line, together. This made it pretty easy, especially since Kimmie says she only has 11 pounds to lose to achieve her goal! When we see Kimmie at home, she is 154 pounds, feeling great and volunteering at a therapeutic horsemanship program for the disabled. Nice, Kimmie.
Next week, it’s the return of some previous season contestants, a Zumba class, a cooking challenge, and a chance to pay it forward and (of course I am excited about this one….) a chance to “win” food for a food bank! I will definitely be watching.

This season has finally turned interesting. Mark and Jeremy and Conda are being very smart and savvy game players. It was a brilliant move on Mark’s part to go to Kim this week and make her feel like he had her back. Of the contestants left, I think Jeremy, Conda and Buddy will be ones to go to the finale. I don’t know if Mark has enough weight left to lose to stay above the yellow line.

I don’t think Mark has enough weight to lose, either. He looks perfect at 200 pounds, but remember, some of the winners look totally malnourished at the end….I agree, though, that Jeremy, Conda and Buddy have much better chances, weightwise, of making it to the finals.
