What a great workout with Jane yesterday morning. Honestly, in my humble opinion, there is NOTHING better than “a little of this, and a little of that.” We walked, ran, did some fast cardio in the house, slowed it down and added ONE weight for some strength training (with a beat) and ended with some yoga postures. Walking gave us time to talk and breathe some fresh air, running kicked up the metabolism, singing and dancing inside was great for burning calories and firing up the endorphins, slowing it down and adding the weights, allowed us to keep singing and work some big muscles, and finally, yoga allowed us to stretch out everything we worked while connecting our bodies with our minds and souls. Thanks, Jane, for wanting to work hard and always putting in 110%. For those of you who are reading this, expect a little of this and a little of that, this morning at the gym. (NOTE: YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO ALL OF IT!)
Since I mentioned the new CrossFit gyms/workouts, they are popping up absolutely everywhere. While again, they are not for me, they might be for you! If you are looking for an extreme workout in an environment with others looking for the same, check them out!
What seems to be the biggest trend in fitness right now, is the mind-body disciplines. In this challenging economy, (will it ever end?) with so much stress in people’s lives, it makes sense that working out the body and at the same time connecting the brain and nurturing the soul, makes great sense. Those of you that have been requesting more yoga on Tuesday nights, you got it!
With so many choices to get in our daily dose of exercise, I can’t help but hear my favorite jingle running through my mind….”you can do this, or you can do that…” It’s the commercial for the new Kia Soul. It’s song by a band called Black Sheep — I can’t say for sure if its called “This and That,” or “The Choice is Yours,” (I have found both) but it is one of the catchiest songs and just makes me smile whenever I hear it. Maybe it will you, too… Here’s one version. ENJOY! (If the link doesn’t work, just copy and paste in your browser)
Before I close and get ready for the gym, I must extend my heartfelt sympathy to several of you that have had great losses this week. There are not words to console when people leave this earth so prematurely. These sad and untimely deaths remind us that we much live each day to it’s fullest. Warm hugs and much love.
