Months ago we talked about the G-BOMBS; GREENS, BEANS, ONIONS, MUSHROOMS, BERRIES and SEEDS. Dr. Joel Fuhrman, who wrote EAT TO LIVE suggests these foods have the power to basically fix all that ails us from being overweight, to feeling sluggish and most importantly to prevent disease. If Hippocrates was right, and often geniuses are, we ALL have the power to control our health and well being. Study after study show that animal products and refined carbohydrates increase cancers. High temperature cooking gives these foods carcinogen super powers, making them even more of a risk to eat. Conversely, foods like cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage and collards actually protect against ALL types of cancer. In a recent study, woman who ate just ONE serving of these a day reduced their risk of breast cancer by over 50%. Mushrooms, including the run-of-the mill white ones, also have been shown to decrease breast cancer risk by up to 70%!
We are NOT defenseless. By eating the right foods, keeping our weight in the healthy zone and getting our daily dose of activity, we can help avoid cancer and so many of the other diseases that are plaguing our society. Let’s all remember what Hippocrates said and get our guts right so we can get our health right! There’s no better day than this one, to get moving in the direction of wellness.
