If, in fact, happiness runs in a circular motion, it makes sense, as Carole said, that happiness begets happiness, just as gratitude begets gratitude and peace begets peace. It seems, however, that not all of us have the same chemical make-up and for some getting the happiness going is a little harder than for others.
The Newsweek article gave some great suggestions for moving towards happiness and away from depression including mindful training to stay in the present (meditation) improving sleep, (perhaps by making sure the room you sleep in is completely dark) spending more time in the sun, eating more omega-3 fatty acid foods, socializing more, not dwelling on negative thoughts, doing more exercise like yoga and of course aerobic exercise, which pumps those happy hormones. Finally, we really need to set some limits on the time we spend on the Internet, with email, texting, tweeting, and chatting.
And on that note, my Internet time is up. In all fairness, connecting with you definitely is a big part of what makes me happy. As always, BALANCE is everything. Hoping you all find yours, today and every day. Remember, happiness runs…it also walks, swims, bikes, bends, lifts, breathes, sleeps, loves, connects….remember the nursery rhyme about the 6 “doctors”? They are the ones that bring us happiness and great health. Visiting them regularly will surely help keep us from visiting the ones in white coats!
