Good morning and welcome to your Monday. Hoping you got to enjoy your extra hour of evening sunlight yesterday, and perhaps even leaned into a little unplugging on Saturday. I found it rather easy to unplug, as did Mitch, although admittedly, during the first couple of hours of Saturday we did have to stop ourselves from looking a few things up on Google as well as in our mail. But we managed and by mid-day our phones and devices had a lovely rest. It was a great awareness exercise, realizing how many times we use our devices to fill a need, but more often, simply out of habit. As I go through the week, I will try to keep some awareness to mindless phone and tablet “checking,” as well as mindless eating! Neither of them lead to much good….
Modern technology has brought great change to our society and we will never go backwards. This is something to be celebrated. But with it comes extra responsibility, always needing to be available, need for immediate response, etc. We need to balance all this energy with down time and even silence. It does a body/mind good!
“Within each of us there is a silence- a silence as vast as the universe…
When we experience the silence, we remember who we are.”
