Today, being Vegan Feast Thursday (even though dinner is actually canceled tonight as we have an out of town friend we will be seeing instead and I am pretty sure I will get to try still another local establishments veggie burger!  ...but return to our regularly scheduled feast next week, same time, same place) I thought I would share some of my favorite vegan staples that my house is never without (at least not for long)...in no particular order, along with raindrops on roses and whispers on kittens, these are a few of my favorite things:

English: "V" icon as as symbol for v...

Peanut butter, Boca Burgers, Publix seeded whole wheat bread from the bakery, Tofutti cream cheese (the best!) Publix microwave popcorn (I wait till they are BOGO and stock up) Ghiradelli semi sweet chocolate chips (in the gold bag in the baking aisle) garbanzo beans, northern beans, black beans, tofu blocks, La Tortilla Factory wraps (vegan, low in calories, high in fiber....a win/win/win) almond milk, soy milk, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, nutritional yeast, salad stuff, veggies galore, bagels, Tofutti Cuties, and all kinds of fruits (fresh, but also frozen --for shakes).  I also, recently, forgot how much I love Larabars and need to restock my pantry with those!

That is just a short, off the top of my head, list.  With these foods I can do anything from make huge pots of soup to last all week, to making a great burger sandwich in no time flat, to baking or just grabbing a bar to go.  There are really an amazing amount of foods available to those of us that choose to refrain from eating the animal products.  Still people question how we get our protein.  I know longer pay much attention to my protein intake.  With all the blood work that people have done to find out their sugar is too high, or their vitamin D is too low, or their cholesterol is out of ratio... have you EVER, even one time in your life, heard anyone find out their protein is low?  Protein deficiency is definitely not an issue, especially in America.

Every time I eat I make a choice.  Sometimes I even choose pizza, because pizza is probably one of my favorite foods in the world.  And when I choose it, its the kind from the pizza place, with real cheese and all.   Beyond that, my choice always seems to be for the plant-based food because they just feel right.  Going back to what Chopra said about listening to one's own heart, I am there...and I am always thankful to simply have enough food to never know really know what hunger is.  Wishing that very same thing, for all of you.
