Yesterday's Sun-Sentinel had a little health blurb about how a study showed that exercise isn't really a long term solution for depression.  WHAT?  I went on to read the article and basically it said that while people are involved in an exercise program it DOES help their depression, but the effects do not last when they stop exercising.  Well...YOU CAN'T STOP EXERCISING!  None of us can stop exercising.  Exercise is forever.  I hated the article!

And above that article was one about how eating meat can cause certain types of cancer like throat, esophageal and stomach, especially if cooked at very high heats, as in grilling on the BBQ.  Somehow, I don't think this was new news at all.  Most of us have heard this for years.  Makes me wonder about how current and accurate "news"really is.

I much preferred the story about the 83 year old woman who ran her 23rd NYC marathon!!!! That is current and quite inspiring.  You go mama!  My deepest respect for all that completed that incredible challenge.  I thought about her with every step as I ran 2 miles at the trail last night.  At the end of my run I kept thinking, ahhh just 24 more...HOW DO MARATHONERS DO IT?

After the run, (I really like our Monday routine, Mitch and I hitting the trail together, even as we go at our own pace)  we came home and I cut up, into small pieces, a half of an eggplant, half of an italian eggplant, some tiny purple and gold potatoes and zucchini and put it all in a casserole dish with some fresh rosemary and oregano and mixed a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes in.  I baked it for about an hour (maybe a little longer) at 400 degrees and it was yummy.  Brown rice would have been perfect with it, but I just had some leftover salad with it and called it a night.  I was exhausted after a full and productive day of work, squeezing in a brisk walk with the dog, some errands and the 2 mile run.  Unable to even finish my little glass of red wine, I was asleep shortly after dinner.

And here it is, Tuesday.  It's back out running and training with Jane this morning.  It should be a swimming day, but whether or not I can get in the pool remains to be seen.  When I checked the temperature yesterday, it was down a full 8 degrees since Friday.  YIKES.  I keep saying to myself "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger," so we'll see!  Tonight it's off to TFC for our Tuesday night back-to-backers, continuing to add more yoga into our 7pm class, as we get closer and closer to the holidays.

What will make you stronger today than you were yesterday?
