Ready for Work? Don’t Forget to Pack Your Sneakers….

July 25, 2012 by Bonni

https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRCse3HJTCU3fHQ5bdqe26Q1xfM1Vnx2_A-2Bp5OoqMkXXEBvk3swMaybe it’s this simple.  According to the experts at the American Council on Exercise, getting in a good daily workout can be as simple as taking a half-hour of your lunch break and going for a walk.  In the rain, find a staircase and alternate quick and slow climbs with some lunges and push-ups…or take the stairs two at a time.  Or, like Shelli does, hit the closest mall, or even grocery store and just walk!  While many find shrug and think a workout in the middle of the day just doesn’t allow for the intensity (some find sweating an obstacle, though not all will break a sweat walking, especially indoors) it definitely beats sitting at your desk slumped over your computer/phone or a book eating your lunch.  For those that have an hour, a half-hour walk followed by a healthful lunch seems like a perfect recipe for better health and fitness…and if you can walk outdoors in a nice environment, it may do wonders to bring peace into your day as well.

Thanks to Rita for sharing her “be like a river (not a river rock), go with the flow,” mantra.  I love it and I am being that river!

Hoping wherever you are, you are finding time for peaceandfitness, and being a river, as well.

I need to take a moment to send my congratulations to my dear friend, Barbara Jean. Although she has had some set-backs the past few weeks (gym injury), she is “back in the saddle again.” She just informed me that her current cumulative weight loss is 46.5 pounds!! I am so proud of her and I am thrilled that she is now back on track. Sometimes the body reaches a plateau and that can be so frustrating…….BUT…….Barbara Jean continued on her path, eyes set on her goal……AND she is striving and thriving once again. Go, Barbara Jean!!!!

BTW……Coral Springs Mall is open every day at 8:00am for mall walkers… except Sunday at 10. One time around the mall is 0.8 of a mile. It is cool and very pleasant to walk as there is music piped in the mall, also.

Thanks Rita…. You are definitely my head cheerleader. I am also thankful for my WW group…good support, especially when the going gets rough…..you and they keep me shored up.

The secret is moderation….. For those of us who enjoy eating and make it part of everything in our life, we need to make good choices…. Since we were 18 you have tried tell me this. Counting M & M’s??? Yes, that is the answer! 5 can be as satisfying as a whole bag if they are eaten slowly and deliberately.

    50 lbs soon! Yay!
