No Wonder They Call it INSANITY

November 14, 2009 by Bonni

Back in May, when my son Kyle asked me for my opinion on P90X,  I quickly began doing the videos and loved them!  Now beachbodies.com offers us the newest program, INSANITY.  Thanks to Kyle, I was able to try the first video, yesterday.  After just 2 or 3 minutes (or less) it was easy to see where the name came from.  A name should fit like a glove and this one clearly does!  My heart rate was up in a training zone just from the warm up, which by the way, I could not make it through……fast forward to the actual program and Shaun T. now has me doing circuits of high intensity aerobics,  plyometrics, push-ups, dips and more.  With short water breaks in between circuits, we repeat these moves at a faster and faster pace and this continues for about 30 minutes.  Though there is NO cool down, there is approximately a 3 minute stretch at the end.

This morning my body is well aware that I did something new and different yesterday.  Until I do more of the videos, it’s way too soon to decide if I would recommend this program or not.  I do know, already, that it is NOT for a beginner!  Wonderful for an athlete or for someone who is INSANE!  I do not consider myself an athlete, yet can’t wait to check out the next video, so clearly I must be ………..INSANE!  Check back soon, as I will continue to update as I check out more of these videos.

Have an awesome Saturday.  Get out there and do something wonderful for your body and mind!

You made me smile with delight as I envisioned you and the INSANITY video. You are in such awesome shape. I would not even attempt something as intense as you mentioned. I love to exercise, but as I “age” I need to be cognizant of my limitations. I would probably not be able to move the next day if I attempted the INSANITY routine. I would be INSANE if I even thought about doing it!!!!
