How to Burn 100 Calories

Push-ups. Even just ONE is better than none!!

While burning an extra 100 calories wont lead to quick change, it is an easy way to squeeze just a little bit of exercise into a day that might otherwise have none.  With so many people siting lack of time as the reason they don’t exercise, here are some ideas that will all take less than a 1/2 to incorporate into YOUR day.

If you can find 10 minutes (we ALL can find 10 minutes!) hop on a stationary bike and get those legs moving.  Even more fun, however, would be to hop on a real bike and take it for a ride around your neighborhood.  You’ll not only get in the exercise, but also have a chance to bond with nature and breathe some fresh air, good for your mental health as well as your physical.  Or, lace up your sneakers and try to run a mile.  When you can’t run, slow down, walk and start running again as soon as you can.  Got pool?  Try 10 minutes of swimming laps.  Got jump rope?  Start jumping.  When you can’t jump anymore, get down on the floor and do some crunches.  Flip over, try some push-ups.  Still have time left over?  Get back to the jumping.  Repeat sequence.   Got basketball?  Shoot hoops for 10 minutes.  Not only will this burn calories but it will definitely give those arms and shoulders a perfect workout.  Just look at the upper body on those basketball players!   Already at the gym and looking to burn an extra 100 calories?  Hop on an elliptical, stepper or treadmill and get busy!

10 minutes.  Even YOU have them!  How will you burn an extra 100 calories today?

I just returned from a 9 day cruise and I must say……..I did make time for exercising…….walking around the deck, going to the gym, climbing up and down stairs……and of course…..exercising my mouth with lots of tasty goodies!!! Missed reading your blog, so I need to catch up on Life. It was a great escape and now it is “back to reality!!!”
