A Name Must Fit Like A Glove

September 16, 2012 by Bonni

Last night’s dinner at Sublime was beyond delicious, for both Mitch and I.  If you think you don’t like vegetables, you have really never tasted anything like their cauliflower appetizer.  It’s off the chain.  Mitch and I shared some with our martinis and we couldn’t decide which part made it so good, the soft and buttery inside, the crispy (no doubt deep fried) outside or the incredible sauce.   The owner, Nanci Alexander, came around to chat it up several times, and I told her how people who think they don’t like veggies, really, really need to taste that dish and they will never, ever feel the same way.  Not saying it was a low calorie dish, but hey, it was Saturday night.  We split a chopped salad, which is always delicious and more than enough for 2.  Mitch tried the updated bean burger (which they have lightened up with less beans and more veggies) and I wanted to taste something different so I went all out and ordered the  reuben (made with tempeh, sauerkraut and Daiya cheese).  It was insane.  We brought home a lot of leftovers to eat during the Dolphin game today, and though I don’t ordinarily order dessert, I couldn’t resist bringing home a piece of their chocolate nirvana cake….and I can’t believe I ate the whole thing!  Though it was a pricey dinner, it’s about the best place I know for out of this world vegan food that a non- vegan can also really enjoy.

The most awesome thing about Sublime though, is Nanci donates 100% of her profits to organizations that promote animal welfare and a vegan lifestyle.  In 1989 she founded the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida and has been volunteering as it’s President, since.  The restaurant is simply and extension of her efforts to reduce animal cruelty.  Celebrities such as Sir Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson, Alec Baldwin and Alicia Silverstone have all dined there when visiting South Florida.

I couldn’t pick just ONE picture of this very lovely establishment, or the food they serve, so instead I am going to suggest you check out their site at sublimerestaurant.com.  If a name is supposed to fit like a glove, this one is just perfect!

If you are preparing to celebrate the holiday this evening, as we are, make it a very sweet new year filled with good health, lots of love…and a whole lot of peaceandfitness.  A special happy birthday to our little grandkitty Chase, in Tampa.  Somehow I know mom and dad are spoiling you silly!  Lucky guy.

Thank you for the blog post. Jones and I have been saving for a new e-book on this issue and your blog post has made all of us to save money. Your thoughts really answered all our issues. In fact, more than what we had thought of prior to when we came across your great blog. I no longer have doubts including a troubled mind because you have really attended to our own needs in this post. Thanks
